There are many options nearby for all tastes.  Here are a few personal favorites, in no particular order:

 

North Market: lunch stalls and take-out.  I especially recommend Tibetan dumplings from Momo Ghar and Destination Donuts.  one block west of the Convention Center

Mikey’s Late Night Slice: fast greasy pizza, open late (obviously). across from the Convention Center

Denmark: my favorite cocktails, rum punch. across from the Convention Center

Brassica: Lebanese, fast casual, vegan friendly. Short North

Philco: classic diner, craft beer, pies.  Short North

The Press: classic Short North bar and grill

The Pearl: restaurant and oyster bar, seafood, large portions.  Short North

Haveli Bistro: Indian, lunch buffet, good if you need to book a large table for a lunch meeting outside the conference. Downtown

Happy Greek: Greek, large interior and patio, good if you need to book a large table for a dinner meeting outside the conference. Short North

Elevator: brewpub in a historic speakeasy and billiard room. Downtown

Roaming Goat: coffee shop, good place to get work done. Short North

Forno: casual Italian, lively and crowded, happy hour specials. Short North

Harvey and Ed’s: Jewish deli, bagels, pickle juice martinis. Short North

Laughlin’s Bakery: fine European pastries.  Italian Village (just east of High Street)

Cosecha: creative Mexican cuisine. Italian Village

Eden Burger: vegan burgers. Short North/University District

Due Amici: Italian food, fine dining. Downtown

Arepazo: Venezuelan arepas, weekday lunch. Brewery District

Union Café: burgers, pizza, outdoor patio, center for gay nightlife in Short North

Condado: tacos. locations Downtown and Short North

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream: gourmet ice cream, creative flavors.  The original stall still operates in the North Market, with a scoop shop in Short North.

White Castle: but not just any White Castle—the flagship restaurant of the burger chain’s national headquarters is located in the Short North
